A Merry (Kinky) Christmas

Yeah I know…a bit sacrilegious, eh? But what the hell, I’m not a Christian. I can say it and play it any way I want.  And what I want is to give you all a very merry, very kinky Christmas! For the next twelve days, I’m going to feature W’s and my special variation on the “Twelve Days of Christmas” song.
The Twelve Days of Christmas are not the twelve days leading up to Christmas, as many people think, but actually the twelve days after Christmas. They begin either Christmas Day or the day after, depending on which tradition is followed, and end on the Feast of the Epiphany (when the Magi went to see the Christ child.) Either way, they are twelve festive days of celebration. In some traditions, gifts are given on each day – and thus “The Twelve Days of Christmas” came into being – and my gift of Twelve Kinky Days of Christmas to you.
We all know the song verses:
On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
A Partridge in a Pear Tree
On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
2 Turtle Doves
and a Partridge in a Pear Tree
And so on…
3 French Hens
4 Colly Birds
5 Gold Rings
6 Geese-a-Laying
7 Swans-a-Swimming
8 Maids-a-Milking
9 Ladies Dancing
10 Lords-a-Leaping
11 Pipers Piping
12 Drummers Drumming
W’s & my version (with Ad in a cameo or two) is a little bit…well, more fun. 😉
But…you’ll have to check back each day, starting tomorrow, to see what we came up with.
Meanwhile, here’s another kind of Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays (whichever and however you celebrate) to you:

    1. Actually “calling” birds was probably a misunderstanding of the original verse. A “colly bird” is a blackbird, and it’s generally considered that the original verse was four “colly” birds. There are several changes to the original verses, most having to do with language translation from old English to modern.
Thanks for the note, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I have been!

  2. How much fun is that! When I finally meet my Prince, that is what I’m going to give him for his birthday. (With ME in the box, of course.) Happy holidays.
