I have finally arrived at my chosen destination, a place I love: the windswept Outer Banks of North Carolina. There I face some additional challenges (aka “opportunities for learning”): rain, wind, cold, flooded campsite, solar and electrical issues. And yet – and yet – I find time for joy. The pleasure of cooking a splendid meal in the van, the joy of finding myself on that stormy, windblown beach, the comfort of having my space neat and warm and contained, of having all the things I need to make it work, the perseverance to do so, and ultimately to have triumphed over the challenges presented to me.
But this…this is why I am here. My beloved Outer Banks and the temperamental Atlantic Ocean in all her fitful glory.
I love this part of your life. I have to get some bag nights in so deparetly. I miss the woods.
